Manchester Pride searching for new Chair and Treasurer

Pride in Leadership is keen to elevate and support its members in their roles as leaders. NED and trustee roles are one way to do that, and we wanted to share this amazing opportunity at Manchester Pride with you.

Manchester Pride are on the hunt to appoint their next Chair of Trustees and their next Treasurer, could this be you?

Manchester Pride is a charity that campaigns for equality. Since founding in 2003, Manchester Pride have donated over £1.5m to LGBTQ+ causes across Greater Manchester and have otherwise supported LGBTQ+ groups, events, artists and cultural initiatives. They campaign for LGBTQ+ issues and fight against homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and all forms of hate and discrimination. Their flagship event takes over the city every year and it is one of the longest running Pride events in the country.

This is an exciting time to join the Board as they are entering a new phase of implementing change, putting the communities at the heart of decision-making and event co-production. Manchester Pride are working hard to create further opportunities and spaces for our communities, implementing a new grant giving policy and process, and centring the annual Festival around their campaigning roots. As they are returning to pre-pandemic event activity, they will continue to build their legacy and cement themselves as being one of the leading UK based LGBTQ+ charities. This is an opportunity at a key stage, in not just their development as a charity, but at a key time in our society.

In the next Chair of the Board, we are looking for a strategic, inclusive and transformational leader who is passionate and has an understanding of the issues face by the communities. They must be an inspiring leader and ready to be an ambassador for the charity. A connection to the landscape of Greater Manchester is imperative, as well as detailed knowledge of governance and prior leadership experience.

For the Treasurer, we seek a qualified accountant who will champion, challenge and support the board. The ideal candidate will be strategic and commercial, as well as passionate and dedicated to the mission in supporting our communities.

The Board typically meets four times a year in the evening for circa three hours. The Chair will also sit on the Finance and Risk and Performance and Governance Committees which each meet quarterly for circa two hours. We estimate that the time commitment for the Chair will be circa 2 days per month.

Our new Treasurer will chair the Finance and Risk Committee. We expect the time commitment for Treasurer to be approximately 1-2 days per month, this is inclusive of preparation for meetings, ad hoc conversations and events.

The closing date for applications is Monday 5th September.
