Pride in Leadership brings together LGBTQ+ leaders and allies from across all sectors, but we recognise that, just because we are LGBTQ+ or passionate about diversity and inclusion, we don’t necessarily know about or properly understand some of the key challenges faced by our younger colleagues, customers, suppliers, etc.

We recognise that, to many, non-binary remains a new concept, or one that we’d like to improve our understanding of to ensure our organisations are as inclusive as possible. And if we, as LGBTQ+ leaders and allies, are not up to speed, we might not be being the best role models and leaders that we could be.

About Alex:

Alex Jay Lynam is the founder of Beyond the Binary, a business that supports schools, companies, families and individuals around LGBTQIA+ inclusion through training, consultancy and public speaking so that everyone can be seen and heard unapologetically as they are.

Alex’s mission has been fuelled by a personal journey of self-discovery from their early teens of battling with the questions of sexuality and gender.  When they were unable to gain support or guidance, their mental health declined significantly resulting in substance misuse, toxic relationships and being arrested by the age of 22.  Alex has grown their self-love, acceptance and emotional empowerment so they can speak about their experiences as a non-binary practitioner to help bridge the gap of declining mental health for the gender nonconforming community.
