Our position on conversion therapy
We stand with our trans colleagues and friends. The UK Government must ensure that all LGBT+ people in the UK are free from violence, discrimination and persecution. There is no LGB without the T!
You may have seen the recent news regarding the Government’s plans to renege on its promise to scrap conversion therapy, its subsequent U-turn in the face of criticism from the LGBTQ+ community, and its attempt at a compromise which would have excluded our trans, non-binary and gender diverse community.
The LGBTQ+ charities responded in solidarity, with all withdrawing their support for the #SafetoBeMe Conference later this year. The conference was later cancelled altogether.
We were due to host a conversation with Iain Anderson, the Government’s first even LGBT+ Business Champion on 7 April, but he resigned his role the day before our event. You can see his letter of resignation to the Prime Minister below. We absolutely respect and support Iain’s decision, and hope he will join us for an event later in 2022.

It is at times like these that we can see the importance of standing together to protect the progresses we have made as a community, and of continuing to strive for equality. So please tell your friends and businesses about our network.
